A handy solution for a bed shortage, the Simmons Beautyrest inflatable pillow top bed works hard to duplicate the comforts of a regular mattress. Consisting of two layers measuring a total of 12 inches deep, the mattress is thicker and more comfortable than many inflatable beds. The material is heavy-duty vinyl flocked with soft velveteen on top to keep bedding from slipping. A last minute decision by some family members to cut expenses in visiting for a family wedding by staying at OUR house meant that there were definitely not enough sleeping surfaces, hard or soft, for everyone! I decided to try and find a comfortable blowup mattress for my sister-in-law, who always provides ME with a wonderful guest bedroom when I visit her (and, sadly, I just don't have the same amount of room to offer her). So with the family bodies descending I quickly went on Amazon.com to see what I could find.
I didn't want to spend a fortune, but I did want to get something comfortable. After reading reviews on many of the mattresses Amazon had listed for their "Prime" shipping, I decided to go with the Simmons Beautyrest Ultra Flex Twin Bed. To make sure it had the most comfort I could possibly offer my sister-in-law under the limited space conditions, I added a mattress topper -- the Simmons Beautyrest Mattress Makeover Jacquard Twin Mattress Pad. Everything came within two days and I had it set up quickly and efficiently, waiting for the family gathering. I used full size sheets on this (since I have a full size bed) and they worked just fine, covering the entire mattress, sides and all.
Having never used a blowup mattress before, I was a little hesitant, but the instructions for blowing up were very clear and it took only minutes. This mattress is pretty high off the floor, compared to others I've seen, and I was very happy with that, since as you get older, that little feat -- getting up and down off the floor -- seems to get a little more difficult!
The bed looked great after it was made up -- my sister-in-law, who arrived with a bad back, even said it was so comfortable it helped ease her back pain. And what a difference this Simmons Beautyrest made!! Someone else staying at the house brought their own mattress -- an Eddie Bauer blowup, which admittedly was designed for camping -- but there was absolutely NO comparison!! The Simmons was FAR superior. Just bear in mind however, you need an electrical outlet to blow this mattress up. It's definitely NOT designed to take camping......
A wonderful purchase -- I'm extremely happy with it!!

I'm generally not a fan of air mattresses due to back problems, plus the fact that if something can go wrong with one, it always has for us. However, we took a chance and purchased two of these twin beds for a trip to FL. The beds we received don't look like the ones pictured, but are the ones in the alternate view. They inflated quickly and held their air for our entire visit. Neither of us were on the floor in the morning. I'm grateful to say I didn't wake up with additional back pain, which was a huge plus. So far, these have been the best air mattresses we've purchased.

I used this bed for severla nights while fixing up a house in the mountains. I figured my back would be in pain after all the work, but the bed is extremely comfortabe and supportive. Fills in minutes and packs nicely into a packbag. I read about in Consumer Reports nd they were right...
